Vet in Harness - James Herriot
$13.95
Author - James Herriot
Published in 2006 by Pan, UK
Softcover, 252 Pages
Size - 20cm * 13.5cm
The Yorkshire dales have never seemed more beautiful for James - now he has a lovely wife by his side, a partner's plate on the gate and the usual menagerie of farm animals, pets and owners demanding his constant attention and teaching him a few lessons along the way.
From the author whose books inspired the BBC series All Creatures Great and Small, this fourth volume of superb memoirs sees all the old Darrowby friends on top form - Siegfried thrashes round the practice, Tristan occasionally buckles down for finals and James is signed up for a local cricket team.
James Herriot
is the pen name of James Alfred Wight, known as Alf (October 3, 1916 - February 23, 1995). Wight was born in Roker, Sunderland where his parents came from, but brought up in Glasgow where at the age of twenty-three he qualified as a veterinarian. Wight worked in a rural practice in the town of Thirsk, Yorkshire, England, but was better known as the author of a series of books about his life working as a vet and his training in the RAF during the Second World War.
'He can tell a good story against himself, and his pleasure in the beauty of the countryside in which he works is infectious' - Daily Telegraph
'Full of warmth, wisdom and wit' - The Field
'It is a pleasure to be in James Herriot's company' - Observer
