The Lord God Made Them All
$13.95
Author - James Herriot
Published in 2006 by Pan, UK
Softcover, 247 Pages
Size - 20cm * 13.5cm
The war is over, the RAF uniform has been handed in and James Herriot goes back to where he ought to be - at work in the dales around Darrowby.
From the author whose books inspired the BBC series All Creatures Great and Small, this seventh volume of superb memoirs recounts James Herriot's return to Darrowby after the war. Much has changed, but the blunt-spoken Yorkshire folk and the host of four-legged patients are still the same. So is their vet, who doesn't yet know that literary success is just around the corner...
James Herriot
is the pen name of James Alfred Wight, known as Alf (October 3, 1916 - February 23, 1995). Wight was born in Roker, Sunderland where his parents came from, but brought up in Glasgow where at the age of twenty-three he qualified as a veterinarian. Wight worked in a rural practice in the town of Thirsk, Yorkshire, England, but was better known as the author of a series of books about his life working as a vet and his training in the RAF during the Second World War.
'He can tell a good story against himself, and his pleasure in the beauty of the countryside in which he works is infectious' - Daily Telegraph
'Full of warmth, wisdom and wit' - The Field
'It is a pleasure to be in James Herriot's company' - Observer
