It Shouldn't Happen to a Vet
$13.95
Author - James Herriot
Published in 2006 by Pan, UK
SOFTCOVER, 229 Pages
Size - 20cm * 13.5cm
How on earth did James Herriot come to be sitting on a high Yorkshire moor, smelling vaguely of cows? Now firmly settled into the Darrowby-based practice, James isn't sure. But he still loves it - and still has plenty to learn...
From the author whose books inspired the BBC series All Creatures Great and Small, this second hilarious volume of memoirs contains more tales of his unpredictable boss Siegfried Farnon, his charming student brother Tristan, animal mayhem galore and his first encounters with a beautiful girl called Helen.
James Herriot
is the pen name of James Alfred Wight, known as Alf (October 3, 1916 - February 23, 1995). Wight was born in Roker, Sunderland where his parents came from, but brought up in Glasgow where at the age of twenty-three he qualified as a veterinarian. Wight worked in a rural practice in the town of Thirsk, Yorkshire, England, but was better known as the author of a series of books about his life working as a vet and his training in the RAF during the Second World War.
'He can tell a good story against himself, and his pleasure in the beauty of the countryside in which he works is infectious' - Daily Telegraph
'Full of warmth, wisdom and wit' - The Field
'It is a pleasure to be in James Herriot's company' - Observer
