Let Sleeping Vets Lie $13.95

Author - James Herriot
Published in 2006 by Pan, UK
Softcover, 251 Pages
Size - 20cm * 13.5cm

With two years experience behind him, James Herriot still feels privileged to be working on the beautiful Yorkshire moors as assistant vet at the Darrowby practice. Time to meet yet more unwilling patients and a rich cast of supporting owners.

From the author whose books inspired the BBC series All Creatures Great and Small, this third volume of memoirs is full of hilarious tales of his unpredictable boss Siegfried Farnon, his charming student brother Tristan, the joys of spring lambing, a vicious cat called Boris and James' jinxed courtship of the lovely Helen.

James Herriot is the pen name of James Alfred Wight, known as Alf (October 3, 1916 - February 23, 1995). Wight was born in Roker, Sunderland where his parents came from, but brought up in Glasgow where at the age of twenty-three he qualified as a veterinarian. Wight worked in a rural practice in the town of Thirsk, Yorkshire, England, but was better known as the author of a series of books about his life working as a vet and his training in the RAF during the Second World War.

'He can tell a good story against himself, and his pleasure in the beauty of the countryside in which he works is infectious' - Daily Telegraph

'Full of warmth, wisdom and wit' - The Field

'It is a pleasure to be in James Herriot's company' - Observer
