Jagdpanzer - JgdPz IV, V, VI and Hetzer $27.95

Tanks in Detail Book 9

By Terry J. Gander
Published in 2004 by Ian Allen Publishing, UK
Softcover, 96 Pages
Size - 25cm * 19cm

The German Jagdpanzer were among the most feared enemies of any Allied tank in World War 2. As towed anti-tank guns had increased in size their movement became increasingly cumbersome and the solution was to place protected anti-tank guns on surplus tank chassis.

The Germans called this new type of vehicle the Jagdpanzer, or hunting tank, and these purpose-built tank killers became amongst the most potent armoured combat vehicles of World War 2. This book gives detailed descriptions of all the major German Jagdpanzer of World War 2 - the JgdPz IV, JgdPz IV Jagdpanther, JgdPzVI Jagdtiger, the JgdPz 38 or Hetzer and the Ferdinand/Elefant.

Designed specifically with the modeller, preservationist and wargamer in mind, Ian Allen Publishing's 'in Detail' series provides readers with a comprehensive history of the type of tank, self-propelled gun or military transport featured.

Each volume in the series includes a detailed history of the equipment in service, along with information on variants, markings and unit allocation. Alongside the comprehensive illustrated section every book also includes scale drawings.

Featuring:

* Design Development history
* Chassis - engines - tracks
* Turret - fighting compartment
* Armament
* Markings and insignia
* Line Drawings

About the author Terry Gander has been a prolific writer on military- related matters for many years and has penned numerous books and articles on all manner of historical and current topics. He is also a former Janes Yearbook editor. Now resident on Alderney, he continues to write and research.
